Squishtivities! - This is a drop in class held once a month for parents/grandparents and children of any age and is co-sponsored by the Parent Enhancement Program. This class will show how playing is learning! Squishtivities provides a positive, pleasurable and developmentally appropriate parent/child experience that promotes the parent/child relationship and results in growth in creativity, individuality, cooperative play, problem solving, music and movement, and social skills. Held on first days of the month in all our communities through May 2012. 

 
Monthly schedule for all sites:
January: water bottle stamps, cars rolling
February: Rhythm Rings 
March: Ocean Bottles
April: Water Wax Painting
May: Paper Bag Kites or windsocks


Held on the first Wednesday of each month in Alsea, January 4, February 1, March 7, right after preschool, 11:30am—12:30pm. FREE. Food included. Alsea School preschool building.

  
Pine Car Derby & Bake Sale - This event is for families to come together and have fun! All the proceeds go to support Strengthening Rural Families for programs in Alsea. The bake sale will be outside in the front of the store with home goodies!  March 24th, 2012, time tbd. Please call for more information.

Nurturing Parenting class - For parents and children ages 2-11. Two groups-one for the kids and one for the parents each night. Improve communication and build your relationship with your child. Increase your positive parenting skills. Develop values and rules for your family. Learn how to boost your child's brain development. Explore different ways to handle things when you're really frustrated with your child. Tuesdays, January 10–March 13, 6:30pm-8:00pm. Dinner starts at 6:00pm. Free childcare provided. $25. (Scholarships available) Held at Kings Valley Charter School.

Incredible Years - A 10 week class for parents of children ages 5-12. Are you worried that your kids are disobedient, have negative behavior or are disruptive at home or school? We can help! At this class, you will learn how to communicate effectively, how to increase your children’s social skills and help them understand their feelings. Held in collaboration with LBCC-Parenting Education. Mondays, January 9–March 19 (no class on 1/16 & 2/20), 6pm-8pm. Dinner starts at 5:30pm. Childcare provided. $25. (Scholarships available) Held at Philomath Middle School.
 
 
Live & Learn with Your Toddler - This 10 week class is for parents and their toddlers and provides information, activities, songs and games focused on supporting the children's development. Held in collaboration with LBCC-Parenting Education. Tuesdays, January 10–March 20, 9am-11am. $25 for Philomath School district residents, $74 for out-of-district residents. (Scholarships available) Held at the Philomath Middle School preschool building.
 
Girls Circle - For girls in 7th & 8th grade who want to learn how to express themselves better and creatively. This class will help learn ways to make healthy decisions and how to feel great about themselves. But mostly—it will be FUN!Tuesdays, January 10-February 28, 3:15pm-4:45pm. Free. Snack included. Held at Philomath Youth Activities Club.
 
 
Living with your Middle Schooler - This 4 week class is for parents of middle schoolers. It will help parents learn ways to help their kids weather the social turmoil of the middle school years, develop responsibility, stay engaged in school and do it without power struggles. Taught by Phoenix Ries, LPC.Wednesdays, February 22–March 14, 6pm-8pm. Dinner starts at 5:30pm. Free childcare provided. $25. (Scholarships available) Held at Philomath Middle School.
 
 
Safe Routes to Schools - Walk & Bike to School Days. The 2nd Wednesdays of each month, January 11, February 8, & March 14. Students who walk, bike or scooter can win prizes! The class with the biggest participation may win something big! (Like a popcorn party for your whole class!)
