BOUNTY OF BENTON COUNTY – September 2-4th, Labor Day weekend!
Stay home and explore Benton County this Labor Day weekend! The third annual Bounty of Benton County is an event that features unique views, tastes, and experiences, all amazingly in our local area.
Participants purchase a passport to tour the 21 “sights” which include wineries, farms, kids activities much more.
Each location provides something of value for passport holders –
a wine tasting, food sampling, and discounts on items, tours or experiences.
· Start by coming out for our kickoff concert, Friday, Sept. 2 at the Philomath Frolic Grounds featuring locally-produced silent auction items and the hometown music of Wild Hog in the Woods and the Big Outside.
The concert starts at 6, dinner and wine will be available for purchase on site.
· Passport holders can tour Hull Oaks Lumber (call ahead), one of the remaining steam powered lumber mills in the county, farm tours, sample wines from eight vineyards, hard cider and vodka from two distilleries. Kids can “pan for gold” at the Philomath Rock Show, interact with farm critters at the 4-H petting zoo, conduct soil and water experiments at Muddy Creek Charter School, and visit the Benton County Historical Museum where a special activity awaits them. Families are welcome to stroll the hiking paths at Tyee Cellars or picnic at Lumos Wine Co., enjoy the views of Mary’s Peak from Colorwheel Gardens, pick up a free bag of Carmel Corn or other treats at Honeybee Sweet Shop, make fish prints at the Alsea Hatchery, and have a great dinner at the Greenberry Tavern. Cruise and visit at your own pace while stopping at other events like the Alsea Blackberry Festival and scenic places like Finley Wildlife Refuge, Bellfountain Park, Alsea Falls, Ft. Hoskins Historical Park and more. Bikers are also welcome as many of the sites are close and make a great afternoon biking tour.
The proceeds from the sale of the passports will fund Strengthening Rural Families which is a nonprofit that that provides programs to kids and families in rural Benton County. Last year we served over 700 people through parenting classes, family and youth support programs and community events.
Passports are on sale now at Visit Corvallis, Spindrift Cellars, and the Benton County Historical Museum. They are $15 if you purchase before the event and $20 the weekend of the event. You can also call Andrea at 541-929-2535 or andrea.srf@ruralfamilies.org.
